Baby Charly

One month ago we welcome this sweet little lady into our family

baby Charly Charlotte Dally, "Charly" was born at 2:44 in the morning, about 20 minutes after we left our house. That's right, you read that correctly, 20 minutes.

When My first was born I was in labor for about 22 hours. I waited until the specified 4 minute apart contractions and headed to the hospital, but because it was during the day my doctor had me stop by his office to make sure I was far enough along to go to the hospital. Well I wasn't and they sent me home. 3 times.

fast forward to labor #2. I was bound and determined to not be sent home. When I went to the hospital I would be there to stay. So when my contractions started at about 8 O'clock I was figuring that we would be able to go to the hospital sometime the next morning. So I went to bed. I woke up about mid night with contractions over ten minutes apart but strong enough that I couldn't sleep. So I left my snoozing husband to go upstairs and try and make myself comfortable. I was timing my contractions and they were about 7 minutes apart, the doctor said they should be about 5 minutes for me to go to the hospital, then all of the sudden they jumped from 7 minutes to 3 minutes. But I was so determined to not be sent home I said to myself, "I'll wait my contractions have been under five minutes for an hour" About 45 minutes into that hour I changed my mind, we needed to go, but I still was in the mindset that it was going to be awhile.

Here's where it gets a little TMI. When I'm in labor I'm a puker. The Doctors reassure me that its normal, but I have yet to meet someone who does the same. Anyway I couldn't leave the bathroom, and my husband dearest was still sound asleep downstairs. I tried texting and calling but no success. So I run downstairs and grab a cardboard box to puke in. I wake up the hubby and tell him its time to go, so he calls his dad to come sleep at our house with Stockton. I make it out to the car to wait for my father-in-law to get there. Finally after about amillion hours, okay like 20 minutes, he makes it there and we head to the hospital, stopping along the way to puke. This was about 2:15 AM. The only entrance to the hospital is the ER, so Wiley wheels me into the nearest garbage while he check me in. They take forever but finally they send me up to labor and delivery. At this time I'm really feeling it so I tell the nurse, I really just want an epideral as soon as I can get one. A nurse meets us at the doors and take me to a delivery room. More TMI. They want me to give them a urine sample. I tell them I really don't think I have to go, but I'll try. At this point my only logic is getting an epideral so if this is one step closer I'll try. I waddle into the bathroom and sit down but nothing. I really didn't have to go. Then SPLASH my water breaks with the next contraction. The nurse is trying to get me back to the bed but with the next contraction I have the urge to push.

"Do Not Push!" screamed the nurse as she starts yanking the emergency chain thing in the bathroom. If you've ever wondered what happens when you pull on those, a whole bunch of nurses start running into your room. Those emergency chains are pretty effective, especially if you have a greeny nurse yelling "Don't Push" at the same time. After that contraction I make it back to the bed, just as the next contraction hits. I really have to push this time. In walks a at-large-and-in-charge nurse who gives me the go ahead to push, and about 45 seconds later our sweet girl came rushing into this world! The doctor didn't even get there until about 20 minutes after she was born!

It was a crazy night, but we are so thankful she is here and healthy! Hey maybe next time I won't even consider an epideral!

And here is the BEAUTIFUL girl herself!
